SERVING THOSE
WHO SERVE

Gloria Justice has filled her career with helping companies that provide services driven by a mission, not by the need to turn a profit. She finds the corporate culture that grows within such organizations very attractive.
"Working with words" has always been a strong passion. Its first public test came while she served as reporter and editor for The Michigan Daily while a student at The University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.

The simultaneous passion for "Contributing to Community"  was tested while working for the City of Detroit Charter Revision Commission. This experience started cultivating within her core values the importance of listening and two-way communication. Second only to Philadelphia, Detroit was a national leader in taking a participatory approach to charter revision. Gloria's role, along with two other college students hired with a New Detroit, Inc. grant, was to contact hundreds of community leaders to promote the opportunity to make suggestions for the new charter through a series of televised open hearings.

Understanding quality assurance and the health care industry was an unplanned benefit from working as an editor, administrative assistant, and marketing assistant, for the Commission on Professional and Hospital Activities. Started with a Kellogg Foundation grant study of a handful of hospitals, the Commission's Professional Activity Study came to life with the advent of Medicare and its cumbersome federal reporting requirements. She gained further insight into the relationship between healthcare and community  while serving as public relations coordinator for Port Huron Hospital.

Tracking the pulse of a subject in order to update a target audience is a skill developed while managing newsletters for two national associations -- one reaching kidney dialysis executives and the other, health care quality assurance professionals.

Understanding how communication works to bind together an organization by empowering members with knowledge came to light while working with the National Renal Administrators Association.
And the Port Huron Museum demonstrated the amazing results than can be unearthed working on a shoestring when your heart is in the right place.
Whether today's current focus on green organizations and mass transit agencies or more longstanding commitments to Christian entities... working with those who serve is an honor, always.
